I have been blessed with three beautiful children - all girls!  I wouldn't know what to do with a little boy if I got one, so I am very thankful to have my three daughters.  However, since these three darlings are growing up far too quickly, I decided to start this blog.  I wanted an easy place to keep a type of journal for my little family, and this seems to fit the bill...for now, at least.

Veta on her 1st day of 3rd grade!
First is Veta.  She is now 9 years old!  She is in 3rd grade and loving it.  She does very well in school; her school just did ISATs and she scored “advanced” overall (the highest category), with all of her individual scores ranking over 200.  Veta’s teachers are always so happy to have her in class and can’t seem to tell me enough good things about her during parent teacher conferences.  Veta has also won several prestigious awards (for elementary school) throughout her schooling experience, such as the Principal’s Award (twice!) and the Elks Reading Excellence Award.  At home, Veta is a fantastic older sister and a great helper to me.  She loves to make her little sisters laugh and has been enjoying teaching Gemma how to crawl.  Veta is the mastermind behind many Barbie concerts and fashion shows.  She has also written many plays which she makes costumes for, directs, and acts in!  Veta is very creative and a very loving, sweet girl.  I’m so lucky that she is mine!

Last Halloween - Hazel was a Tea Party Princess ♥
Hazel came along next.  She turned 5 in February…how times flies!  She is going to start kindergarten this fall and is very excited (and nervous) about it.  We are both looking forward to school clothes shopping!  Since Hazel is more of a skirts and pretty shoes type of girl, the jeans and sneakers I have from Veta’s kindergarten days simply won’t do.  Hazel loves to play Super Mario Brothers on the Wii and the DS.  She is very good at it, too!  She recently cleared all eight worlds of the Super Mario Bro’s on the Wii with only a little help from her daddy on the last castle.  Hazel loves to cook dinners and desserts with me and willingly helps me with chores around the house.  She is my late night run-to-the-store-for-milk (and anything else that catches our eyes!) partner.  She loves to play with Veta and is an active participant in the Barbie concerts and fashion shows.  Hazel is also a good sport about the roles she is assigned in Veta’s plays.  She is such a wonderful girl and we love having her in our family!

Gemma has learned to crawl!
Last, but definitely not least, is Gemma!  In three days she will be nine months.  Gemma is adored by all of us.  She has recently learned how to crawl and can move around pretty fast, especially when she hears bath water turned on.  She loves to take baths with her daddy!  She also likes to prop both of her little feet on him in bed at night while she nurses to sleep.  I wonder if it has anything to do with me always putting my legs up on him while I was pregnant with her…  Gemma has a fascination with her daddy’s beard, and often will wake him in the mornings with her little hands petting his cheeks and chin.  Gemma still has no teeth, but she seems to enjoy eating real food whenever she has the opportunity.  She is quite adept at feeding herself Cheerios and graham crackers and anything else that accidentally gets within range…she’s a very fast grabber!  Gemma is a happy baby with a ready smile.  She loves to dance to any kind of music and play with her big sisters.  We love her dearly!
