Veta dragged us into Claire’s yesterday while we were shopping for more school things. Hazel was looking at all the earrings and, with some persuasion from Veta, decided she wanted to get her ears pierced. Hazel has wanted to get her ears done for a while now, but she has always changed her mind once we talked about how it happened. Yesterday was no exception. After she picked out which earrings she thought she wanted to have, she changed her mind about going through with it. The idea of having an earring poked through her ear was a bit too scary for her. However, on the
drive home Hazel was asking Veta more questions about ear piercing and by the time we got home, she had decided that she really did want to get her ears pierced. I thought she would change her mind again, but this morning she announced that today she wanted to get her ears pierced. We went back to the mall and Hazel marched very determinedly to Claire’s. She selected which earrings she wanted, climbed into the chair, and got her ears pierced! Admittedly, she did try to change her mind again as the two girls were counting to three to pierce her ears simultaneously, and there was some crying immediately afterward, but after a mirror was handed to her, Hazel stopped crying and was smiling almost instantly. Since then, she has said several times over that she is so glad that she did it, and she loves her pretty earrings.

Regan is still to chicken to get her ears pierced. Good job Hazel!
