Veta and Hazel have been after me these last few weeks to take them in for their annual summer haircuts. Veta had been dying to cut her hair short again (last summer she kept it longer so it would stay in a ponytail for her tumbling class) and Hazel desperately wanted bangs. Also, they both decided that they wanted to try pink streaks in their hair. While I’m not much of a hair-dying sort of person myself, I didn’t see a problem with them having it done. After all, as I am far too well aware, you can’t be young and carefree forever in your life! So, we did some research on the best dye to use and ordered some online. As soon as it arrived, we scheduled a day for hair and today we went in! Hazel had her hair cut just as I expected she would, but Veta surprised me by deciding at the last minute that she wanted bangs, too. Both Veta and Hazel have proclaimed that they love their new haircuts and color and are excited to show their friends.
The pink turned more of a purple since we decided to not bleach first. Veta and Hazel wanted to have their natural hair colors back after the dye washes out.

Waiting for the fireworks to start was boring, so Veta ran off to practice her cartwheels while Hazel performed somersaults for us! |
Gemma saw her first fireworks this last 4th of July! It’s crazy to me that she is already almost one. She is now able to stand up without having to pull up on something first and can stand for twenty and thirty seconds (while clapping her hands!) before she decides to sit back down. I don’t think it will be long before she is chasing after her sisters! Gemma likes to say, “Hi!” a lot, but she can also say daddy, mama, hey, and uh-oh (like after she throws my cellphone on the ground)! Danny has decided that her first word was daddy, but I’m not very certain that’s what it was…
